INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST

CHELSEA SCHOOL DISTRICT - Chelsea, MI (2019 - Present)

As the K-12 Instructional Technology Specialist, my time is split between collaborating with curriculum specialists/teachers and providing technology supports. On the technical side, I help manage PowerSchool, online textbooks, the district website, and report card creation. On the curriculum side, I review curriculum, curate resources for teachers, lead professional development, and support teachers in their classrooms.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO LABORATORY SCHOOLS - Chicago, IL (2015 - 2018)

As the Lower School Technology Integration Specialist and Computer Science Teacher, I had dual responsibilities. As a Technology Integration Specialist, I supported teachers in researching and designing technology-infused learning experiences. In addition, I facilitated Design Thinking trainings, maintained a comprehensive website for my colleagues, and managed a podcast for the Lab community. As a Computer Science Teacher, I designed and transformed the Lower School computer science program.

CLASSROOM TEACHER

LIVE OAK SCHOOL - San Francisco, CA (2014 – 2015)

As a Fourth Grade Teacher, I collaborated with my co-teacher to design interdisciplinary, cross-curricular units. I assessed and documented student understanding with digital portfolios, anecdotal notes, rubrics, and narrative reports. As a technology leader, I administered classroom PD trainings to introduce students to new technologies.

CATHERINE COOK SCHOOL - Chicago, IL (2008 – 2014)

As a Fourth Grade Teacher, I designed multi-cultural, technology-rich curriculum for a classroom of 20 students each year. In addition to the responsibilities of being a homeroom teacher, I collaborated with school administrators, parents, and teachers to research and develop a computer literacy program, mentored graduate students, and was elected as the representative to chair fundraising efforts for Annual Giving Campaign.

SYCAMORE SCHOOL - Indianapolis, IN (2007 – 2008)

As a Gifted and Talented Teacher, I crafted lessons to meet the needs of academically gifted and talented fourth graders. In addition, I organized and marketed a school-wide fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and launched an ecology unit with a 3 day, overnight trip to Camp Tecumseh with 42 students.

CONSULTING WORK

CODE PLAY LEARN - Chicago, IL (2016 - 2017)

As General Manager of the Lincoln Park location, I established relationships with Chicago teachers and youth organizations to provide computer science learning opportunities. I designed and distributed promotional marketing materials, upheld the social media accounts, conducted training sessions, and supported instructors in implementing the coding curriculum.

ALT SCHOOL - Remote (2014)

As a summer Curriculum Development Consultant, I collaborated with researchers and technologists to prepare AltSchool’s signature Personalized Learning Plans for the 2014/2015 school year. In this role, I provided feedback on pilot programs associated with design, pedagogy, scheduling, and classroom tools.
